Phayao on a sunny afternoon

Phayao is a small town, attractively situated on the shores of a large lake and marsh, Kwan Phayao. The town sees a few domestic tourists, but almost no foreigners. I spent a pleasant day in town, wandering along the waterfront walk, and admiring the lake from one of the lakeside restaurants. There is also apparently quite a good municipal museum on the north side of town, but it was closed when I visited (possibly due to the death of a senior monk at the wat next door).
