Where the kings used to dwell: Phimeanakas, Srah Srei, and the rest of the royal residence

Immediately north of Baphuon and west of the Terrace of the Elephants is the site of the former royal residence.

Virtually nothing is left of most of the palace buildings, which would have been built of wood. But you can still see the crumbling and overgrown walls surrounding the royal compound, multiple smaller temples in the area, and Phimeanakas (the main temple of the royal residence).

Also onsite are the woman's baths, Srah Srei, boasting aquatic-themed carvings along the sides of the pond.
