Not quite as well known as Bayon or Angkor Wat itself, Baphuon was my personal favourite of the major temples.
Coming from the main entrance, you first follow a long raised walkway, past several lily ponds, to an external courtyard and the entrance building, and then from there you can climb up the various terraces of the main temple, using ladders in some places, to reach the top. On the way up, keep your eyes peeled - the walls are covered with bas reliefs.
Once you're finished exploring the site, if you leave out the back, you can follow the forest trail to Phimeanakas.
