Built as a monastery, Banteay Kdei is a quiet, crumbling alternative site. The total area of the temple is quite large, with numerous mossy fallen stones scattered among the trees. There were a few other tourists there when I visited, mostly domestic by the look of things, and three musicians playing traditional instruments near the entrance (it was a Sunday at the tail end of rainy season).
It was evocative and peaceful.
